NAPA VALLEY STUDIO WORKSHOPS 2020

Set in a vineyard in the NAPA VALLEY 1 1/2 miles south of the town of Calistoga, 75 miles north of San Francisco, the location offers grand views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains. Further information about the area can be found on www.napavalley.com

The studio will be open around the clock with instruction from 9:00 to 3:30 and an hour lunch break. Coffee will be available at 8:30 each morning. You may bring lunch (we have a refrigerator and picnic tables) or drive to town five minutes away. We will have a group dinner mid week. The studio will be open from 5-6PM on the Sunday preceding your workshop should you wish to set up. Those who prefer can set up Monday morning.

QUALIFICATIONS This class is offered for committed artists who paint regularly and is limited to 12 students. It is not suitable for beginners unless they are experienced in another medium.

A variety of methods of approach will be demonstrated with a strong emphasis on color and design. I will give daily demonstrations and critiques, each lasting about an hour so that time for painting will be ample. The class is similar to what I offer throughout the country and is suitable for anyone with experience in watercolor who enjoys a challenge. It is also suitable for prior students of mine as I invariably present new information. Advanced painters who want the stimulation of a workshop with a less structured approach will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and pursue personal projects.

The cost is $400 for a 4 day class and $300 for a 3 day class. A $100 deposit will hold a place. The balance is due 4 weeks before the first day of class. If you need to cancel, your fee will be refunded, less a $30 service fee up to 30 days prior to the workshop. If you have further questions please let me know.

TRANSPORTATION FROM SAN FRANCISCO (75 miles)

Golden Gate Bridge – From Hwy. 101 N. take Hwy. 137 to Hwy. 121. Turn left on 121 continuing to Hwy. 29. Turn left (N.) on 29. Continue north through ;St. Helena. Dunaweal Lane is on your right about 5 miles north of St. Helena and just before you reach Calistoga. 1085 Dunaweal Lane is ½ mile east of the Hwy. You will pass the entrance to Sterling Winery on your right. Our house and driveway (D’Anneo Vineyard & Nechis Studio) are immediately following, and are directly opposite Clos Pegase Winery. Enter our driveway on the right just past the house and between the stone pillars. The studio is at the end of the gravel pathway beside the barn.

You can arrange to rent a car from Enterprise 707-253-8000 (I’m not sure if they still have a 15% discount for Evans Shuttle passengers) to await you at Evans in Napa, 20 miles south of my studio. Also Budget at 707-224-7846 charges $30 for the delivery and pick up of car but their rental price is more reasonable than the airport.
