Although my work is rooted in nature, I often invent shapes that suggest the appearance of certain identifiable objects without actually defining the limits of those objects. I allow myself to respond to the entire experience of nature – and not just the specific appearance of trees, flowers, rocks, water. The less I try to copy nature, the more my paintings become a record of the entire experience.

Several years ago I acquired a watercolor in an antique store in Strafford MO where I used to live. I fell in love with it immediately and it has moved with me to where I just hung it in Moscow ID. I decided to research the signature and discovered your works and it is named ‘Summer Silhouette ‘. Any chance it is an original or how it came to be in small town outside of Springfield MO?

Hi Susan, I just came across your note. Summer Silhouette is a reproduction made in the early 80’s by NY Graphic Society. They made thousands of them along with 3 others of that size. They sold for about $35 each unframed. I still own the original

I love your work after discovering 2 drawings of yours at an estate sale. I immediately purchased both and want to know if there is any way to tell if it is an original or not. Neither is numbered or dated. They are both 1/2 sheet – 15×22. I wasn’t able to find photos of them on your website either. I would be happy to send photos.

I’ve had one of your watercolors for over 30 years and have really enjoyed it. Never tried to find out who the artist “Nechis” was until today and found you on the website. I believe I bought it from Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio (which is now a Macy’s). Love looking at your beautiful works.

Hi Joyce, thanks for the comment. If you can send me a picture of it, I can tell you more about the painting. I gave a workshop in Columbus many years ago.

Barabara were you ever in Fairborn, OH? I was a member of the art society there and for some reason everytime I see your name I think Fairborn, OH.

Thanks Joy, I would love to teach a workshop in Florida again but I haven’t had an invitation from an art group there in many years.

Barbara, my name is Cathy and I can’t even begin to explain the inpack of your art work. I am a quilter, and I am terribly stuck in a rigid formal design focus. Probably because I was a researcher in the medical field. I also am very excited to see your work because it appears we are distant cousins. Long story but my dad was Lawrence Sincoff, so this is an amazing journey to learn of all the amazingly talented people in this family. Cathy

Hi Cathy, I tried to send an email with some old Sincoff photos but the email address I had from wordpress was not correct. “Please send me an email at nechis@earthlink.net and I’ll resend my message.
